The former Minnesota Vikings defensive end shut down some recent criticism.

For the first time in his NFL career, Everson Griffen has been playing in games this season without a Minnesota Vikings uniform. Instead, Griffen has been suiting up for the Dallas Cowboys and helping their team begin the year with a 1-1 record.

After the first two weeks of the season, the former Vikings defensive end is tied for the team lead in sacks with one and he leads all Cowboys defenders with five pressures. He’s also done this even though he’s only been on the field for 66 percent of Dallas’ defensive snaps.

Despite his efforts this year, Griffen has still been receiving some criticism from those who cover the Cowboys. After a recent statement was made about his performance so far, the former Minnesota pass-rusher made sure to share his opinion as well.

On Tuesday, 105.3 The Fan’s Jeff Cavanaugh thought he could just casually post a tweet about how he felt Griffen has been playing for Dallas so far this season. Unfortunately for him, the former Vikings defensive end saw what he posted and decided to respond.

(Tweets edited due to Griffen’s NSFW response.)

Griffen hasn’t been a member of the Cowboys for very long, so maybe Cavanaugh thought he could get away with criticizing the defensive end. It’s safe to say he probably won’t be tweeting something like that again in the near future.

During his time with Minnesota, Griffen became known for not being afraid to speak his mind. But he more or less just told it how it was and most of the time, he was just saying things that no one else in the locker room was willing to speak up about.

This is how Griffen evolved into a leader of the Vikings locker room for multiple seasons. Minnesota sure could use his leadership right now with the way they performed during their first two games of the year.

Unfortunately, Dallas is the team that gets to reap the benefits of his pass-rushing skills and his natural leadership abilities this season.
