NFTs are skyrocketing in popularity recently and the Minnesota Vikings could have some of the most valuable moments from the 2020 NFL season.

Collecting memorabilia is not uncommon for fans of the Minnesota Vikings or any other team in the NFL. It’s a way for fans to feel like they own something valuable from the team or a specific player.

There are a variety of collectibles available out there today for Vikings fans to choose from, and soon, there could be even more.

The NFL recently sent out a memo to each team stating that the league is currently in the process of developing a digital collectibles strategy. This means the NFL could potentially create something similar to what the NBA currently has with NBA Top Shot.

Which Minnesota Vikings 2020 moments would be the most expensive NFTs?

For those unfamiliar with NBA Top Shot, it’s basically a digital marketplace where people can buy and sell clips of specific moments (monster dunks, big shots, etc.). These clips are essentially the digital version of the baseball cards your grandparents used to keep in an old shoebox up in their attic.

To break it down even deeper, these moments are known as non-fungible tokens or NFTs. This basically gives each moment a digital certificate of authenticity.

For example, say there are 100 Justin Jefferson rookie trading cards. Each card has its own number, and in the digital world, each number would then allow for each card to be its own separate NFT.

If the NFL were able to create something like NBA Top Shot, however, the NFT versions of these Jefferson rookie cards would then be different moments from his rookie season.

The NBA is already experiencing tons of success with NFTs as the front of their website says collectors have already spent over $400 million since the site’s launch in October of 2020. There are several moments on NBA Top Shot that have sold for more than $100,000.

So which moments from Minnesota’s 2020 season would have the most value as an NFT? With how impressive Jefferson’s rookie campaign was, one has to imagine his first touchdown catch in the NFL would likely be something that could potentially sell for a significant amount of money.

Other Vikings moments from the 2020 season that could possibly have value as an NFT include D.J. Wonnum’s game-clinching strip-sack against the Green Bay Packers in Week 8, Adam Thielen’s one-handed touchdown catch against the Chicago Bears in Week 10, Dalvin Cook’s 50-yard touchdown off a screen pass against the Packers in Week 8, or just about any clip of Mike Zimmer freaking out on the sideline during the middle of a game.

NFTs are certainly something to pay attention to since it seems like the NFL is investing some serious time into figuring out what could work best for the league. There are many different routes they could take with this new form of collectible, so we’ll just have to wait and see what they are able to come up with.
