Mike Hughes

No current corner on Minnesota’s roster might benefit more from a Jeff Gladney release than Mike Hughes. After missing multiple games due to injury again last season, Hughes’ future with the Vikings has been a bit uncertain heading into the 2021 campaign.

He’s reportedly fully recovered from the neck injury that kept him out of action last season and now, Minnesota might be willing to give him another chance if they part ways with Gladney.

Hughes is running out of time to prove he can be a reliable cornerback in the NFL. He needs to make the most of whatever his opportunities turn out to be next season and if he doesn’t, his tenure in the league could be coming to an end sooner than later.

Kris Boyd

During his second season with the Vikings last year, Kris Boyd took some steps in the right direction. Boyd still has a lot to prove before Minnesota would probably consider making him one of their starting corners though.

But getting some additional snaps in 2021 if Gladney is released would certainly give him some more opportunities to showcase his progress.
