Mike Hughes – CB

Other than injury-riddled, it’s hard to describe how the tenure of Mike Hughes in Minnesota has gone since the team selected him in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Hughes just hasn’t been out on the field long enough for anyone to give him a proper evaluation.

A few weeks ago, some were doubting the possibility of him even making the Vikings’ roster for next season. But after Jeff Gladney’s arrest, Minnesota could be in need of keeping someone around like Hughes to maintain their cornerback depth in 2021.

But after next season, continuing with the Vikings is something that currently doesn’t seem very likely for the young corner. Even with Patrick Peterson and Mackensie Alexander possibly being gone after 2021, Minnesota would probably prefer to give any snaps meant for Hughes to someone like Harrison Hand or a rookie that they could add in the 2022 draft.

Unless Hughes goes out and plays like the player the Vikings thought was worthy of a first-round draft pick next season, or he creates a new role for himself as a talented returner, expect the 2021 campaign to be his last in purple and gold.
