Patrick Peterson – CB
During his final two seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, it’s fair to say that Patrick Peterson didn’t perform at an All-Pro level. He would probably be one of the first people to agree with that.
Now with the Vikings, however, Peterson seems like he’s motivated more than ever before. As the top corner on Minnesota’s depth chart, he’s been tasked with covering both members of the team’s dynamic receiving duo, Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen.
Thielen and Jefferson have made a few plays, but Peterson has also come up with some pass breakups as well. The matchup between these three guys is going to be fun to watch during this year’s training camp and it’s only going to make each player better in the long run.
Kellen Mond – QB
For those who have been able to attend some of the Vikings OTA practices during the last few weeks, they’ll tell you that the reps for rookie quarterback Kellen Mond have not been very frequent.
But they will also tell you that even with the small amount of reps Mond has been given, he’s made some progress since his very first practice with the team back in May’s rookie minicamp.
Sports Illustrated’s Will Ragatz says that some of Mond’s mechanics look “more fluid,” and his confidence is growing compared to how he was during Minnesota’s rookie minicamp.
The Vikings don’t need Mond to be ready to start in Week 1, so this slow progression is something the team should totally be fine with.
