Top Vikings cornerback reportedly tests positive for COVID-19

Minnesota Vikings cornerback Cameron Dantzler has been placed on the team’s Reserve/COVID-19 list and it’s reportedly due to a positive test.
A week after taking to Twitter to express his frustrations with his lack of playing time, Minnesota Vikings cornerback Cam Dantzler found himself on the field for a significant amount of time during the team’s Week 4 loss to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
Dantzler appeared in 92 percent of Minnesota’s defensive snaps against the Browns after an illness sidelined Vikings starting corner Bashaud Breeland.
During his time on the field, Dantzler held his own against Cleveland’s receivers. He was targeted in coverage four times on Sunday, and he allowed just one catch for 12 yards.

Unfortunately for Dantzler, it seems like he might have another hurdle to overcome before he can find himself back in the starting lineup for Minnesota’s defense.
On Monday, the Vikings announced that the young corner has been placed on the team’s Reserve/COVID-19 list. In addition to the announcement, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport revealed that Dantzler was placed on the list due to testing positive for the virus.
Later on in the day, the Minnesota cornerback posted on his Twitter account that he is fully vaccinated. This is significant since Dantzler still has a chance to play next Sunday against the Detroit Lions since he’s received a full dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Since he’s fully vaccinated, Dantzler can return to the Vikings if he is asymptomatic, and he provides to negative test at least 24-hours apart. If Dantzler can do this, then he should be able to play against the Lions in a game that Minnesota cannot afford to lose if they still have hopes of getting into the playoffs this season.
