7 free-agent tight ends the Vikings could sign in 2022

Maxx Williams
2021 Team: Arizona Cardinals
Maxx Williams was the 55th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, and in his seven years in the league (most of which have been hampered by injuries), he just hasn’t seemed to put it all together.
With a less than stellar history in the league, why should the Vikings even consider signing Williams? If you watched Minnesota’s Week 2 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals, you could potentially understand why.
Williams had the greatest game of his career in Week 2 against the Vikings, finishing with seven catches for 94 yards. He looked impressive while doing so, as it was evident in the game that he had the skill to be an issue at the tight end position, he just needed a chance.
Unfortunately, Williams’ 2021 season was cut short due to a knee injury, but he was in the midst of his best career year by far.
Coming off a serious knee injury for a player that has never reached his full potential only leads to his price being fairly low, and for a Vikings team that is amongst the bottom of the league in cap space, a discount deal is what they need.
Williams is also a native of Minnesota, and he went to the University of Minnesota, meaning that a homecoming could be in the future for the former Arizona tight end.
