Which Minnesota Vikings players do not deserve another season with the team in 2022 based on their efforts last season?
We are at the start of what promises to be an offseason period of immense intrigue for the Minnesota Vikings. There is a great sense of excitement following the team’s decision to fire Mike Zimmer and Rick Spielman, replacing the experienced figures with a progressive young duo in head coach Kevin O’Connell and general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah.
Although these landmark changes were probably right considering the Vikings missed the playoffs for a second-straight year, it’s hard to deny there isn’t a substantial amount of work ahead of the organization. Minnesota is currently $14.72 million over the cap and some significant sacrifices need to be made to comply with financial regulations while keeping the roster competitive.
Adofo-Mensah is a respected figure across the NFL and he probably took on this job with his eyes wide open. If the Vikings can make the right sort of moves in free agency and the draft, it might give them half a chance of wrestling the NFC North crown from the Green Bay Packers if Aaron Rodgers decides to leave or retire.
Some decisions will be easier than others. There is also the future of Kirk Cousins to consider after Minnesota reportedly got a call from the Carolina Panthers regarding a potential trade.
With this in mind, here are four Vikings players who don’t deserve another season with the team after their efforts in 2021.
