Round 5 – Pick 156 overall – Ed Ingram, G – LSU

Free agency saw the Minnesota Vikings bring in some competition at guard but after seeing how the interior of the offensive line getting pushed around as much as they did last season, adding more talent to the roster is a good idea.

Ed Ingram is a 6’3, 305-pound blocker who takes up a lot of space and can be explosive off the snap. Although he can be inconsistent at times, there is enough potential to believe he can even out his play and evolve into a possible starter or rotational guard.

Ingram wouldn’t likely be a day one starter for the Vikings, but his work with his hands and feet can redirect defenders well and his football IQ has seen him sniff out stunts and blitzes before they fully develop.

While center could be a bigger need, new GM Kevin O’Connell has praised the play of Garrett Bradbury and has gone on record as saying he’s excited to see what he has to offer. For that reason, any interior lineman drafted will likely primarily be looked at to be a right guard.
