As the 2022 NFL Draft quickly approaches, the Minnesota Vikings recently held a visit with former Georgia defensive lineman Travon Walker.
With a new regime leading the team this year, there is still a lot of uncertainty when it comes to what the Minnesota Vikings are going to do in the upcoming 2022 NFL Draft.
As every team does during the pre-draft process, the Vikings have held in-person visits with a number of 2022 prospects. Recently, it was revealed that Minnesota met with former Georgia defensive lineman Travon Walker according to The Athletic’s Ben Standig.
During the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine, Walker tested very well, and it has resulted in him being viewed as the potential No. 1 overall pick in this year’s draft.
Could the Minnesota Vikings actually pick former Georgia defensive lineman Travon Walker in the 2022 NFL Draft?
Considering Walker could be the first player to come off the board in the upcoming 2022 NFL Draft, the chances of the Vikings actually winding up with him seem very low.
However, if the 6-foot-5, 272-pound pass rusher begins to slip down the board once the draft begins next week, perhaps Minnesota could be interested in trading up to select him.
As a junior at Georgia last season, Walker accumulated 33 tackles (7.5 for a loss) and six sacks in 17 games. According to MockDraftable, his pre-draft testing numbers are comparable to current Vikings pass rusher Danielle Hunter and former No. 1 draft pick, Jadeveon Clowney.
Walker would certainly be a great addition to a Minnesota pass rush that’s already led by the talented duo of Hunter and Za’Darius Smith. Plus, with these two veterans leading the Vikings’ pass rush, Walker would have more time to develop and improve some of his weaknesses.
Once again, however, the chances of him actually ending up in a Minnesota uniform for the 2022 season still seem very low.
