Kirk Cousins could be a surprise ‘holy crap’ quarterback in 2022

Mike Wright of The Fantasy Footballers thinks Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins is capable of being one of the NFL’s top passers in 2022.

Putting up impressive numbers has never been a problem for Kirk Cousins during his tenure with the Minnesota Vikings. Those numbers translating into success in the win column has just been something the Vikings have struggled with since Cousins’ arrival in 2018.

Considering the stats that Cousins has been able to accumulate during his Minnesota career while playing in a pretty conservative offense, many are expecting the quarterback to take his game to a higher level under new Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell and the team’s new offensive philosophy.

Among those who believe that Cousins could see an increase in his production during the upcoming season are those that are part of the fantasy football community.

Fantasy Football analyst thinks Minnesota Vikings QB Kirk Cousins could surprise some people in 2022

On a recent episode of “The Fantasy Footballers”, fantasy analyst Mike Wright shared his thoughts about Cousins’ chances to be one of the most productive quarterbacks in the NFL next season.

"“[Mike] Zimmer is about as curmudgeony and ‘it will be established’ as you can possibly get in the NFL. With him out and this new [offensive] system [in], Kirk Cousins could be one of those surprise quarterbacks where you’re like ‘holy crap, Kirk Cousins was the QB6 on the year.'”"

After Wright shared his thoughts, fantasy analyst Andy Holloway went on to point out how Cousins was one of the top fantasy quarterbacks during his time in Washington in 2016 and in 2017.

Both Holloway and Wright feel the Vikings‘ starting signal-caller could emerge as one of the top fantasy quarterbacks again in 2022 with O’Connell installing a more modern and pass-happy offensive scheme.

Would this increase in production for Cousins lead to more wins for Minnesota next season than what they finished with in 2021? Well, that is something the Vikings’ new coaching staff will certainly be hoping for.
