The Minnesota Vikings still have some areas of concern on the roster that could be upgraded through free agency before the season kicks off.

It is mid-July and the Minnesota Vikings are just a few weeks away from kicking off the first training camp under new head coach Kevin O’Connell. There’s plenty of excitement around the club, with an exciting modern offensive being utilized, as well as a 3-4 defensive front led by new defensive coordinator Ed Donatell.

The Vikings surprisingly decided to try to compete this year with a new head coach when many teams would go with a rebuild in a similar situation. They kept quarterback Kirk Cousins and a handful of other veteran players who many assumed would be released in the event of a roster gutting.

The coaching staff praised the talent on this team when they got here, and their moves and decisions in free agency have supported those praises.

Minnesota was able to sign some exciting veteran pieces in free agency and brought in some talented players through the draft. While the roster looks pretty complete as we march towards the start of camp, there are a few positions that could use a bit more depth.

These are positions the Vikings could still address in free agency before the season starts, whether it’s due to poor play in the preseason, or if someone ends up getting injured.
