The Minnesota Vikings open up their preseason schedule on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Preseason football is almost here for the Minnesota Vikings and that means things are heating up in training camp. The team is set to take on the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday in their first exhibition of the 2022 season with the starters likely to sit out.

As the Vikings narrow down the final 53 roster spots, preseason action will help clarify which guys are deserving of a spot on the team in some capacity. Remember, rosters require so much more than starters and depth. Minnesota needs to find players that can contribute on special teams and keep things intense during practice throughout the season.

The current roster has plenty of star talent and even a considerable amount of depth on both sides of the ball. Still, there are enough question marks to go around which means there’s a chance some of the bottom-of-the-depth-chart guys will have a chance to earn a spot on the roster for the regular season.

In the first installment of this two-part series, I will break down a handful of guys that can sneak their way onto the roster over the course of the next three preseason contests. Since they will need to steal spots away from other players – and even some veterans – that side will be broken down a bit later.

Which four current Vikings can surprise the coaching staff and fly up the depth chart between now and September 11?
