After their second exhibition matchup of the 2022 preseason, which Minnesota Vikings players will earn a spot on the team’s final 53-man roster?
Two weeks into the 2022 preseason and the Minnesota Vikings have been unable to leave the field with a victory. Wins and losses obviously don’t matter during the preseason, so there isn’t much to panic about with the Vikings (for now).
In their most recent exhibition contest this past Saturday, Minnesota suffered a 17-7 loss at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers. We shouldn’t have been too surprised with this result, however, since the Vikings kept more than 25 players off of the field in order to prevent unnecessary injuries.
With even more guys from the top of the depth chart on the sidelines against the 49ers compared to last week, some of Minnesota’s players that are on the roster bubble had a great opportunity to prove their worth.
The Vikings will have to slightly trim their roster again this week, but if they had to make all of their final cuts before their next preseason game, who would make the team?
Quarterbacks (3)
IN
- Kirk Cousins
- Nick Mullens
- Kellen Mond
OUT
- Sean Mannion
Kellen Mond‘s two interception-performance on Saturday isn’t going to make people feel too great about Minnesota keeping him around during the regular season. But one poor preseason performance shouldn’t be enough for the Vikings to give up on the development of a young quarterback.
It was a good idea for Minnesota to add another veteran signal-caller to their roster in Nick Mullens before the start of the regular season as there is no upside in keeping Sean Mannion.
