By Adam Carlson
Pro Football Focus recently released their Team of the Week and it featured three interesting members of the Minnesota Vikings.
Week 2 of the NFL preseason is in the books for the Minnesota Vikings and the play of several players has been dissected and evaluated. One of the most notable groups for those evaluations is Pro Football Focus, which even grades performances during preseason games.
Each week, PFF puts together their Team of the Week including their Rookie of the Week, Offensive Player of the Week, Defensive Player of the Week, and Offensive Line of the Week. It was interesting to note that despite the purple and gold holding many of their players out of action against the 49ers, there were still some very good performances.
In fact, three members of the Vikings made the PFF Team of the Week for Week 2 of the preseason and it was an interesting group,
Which Minnesota Vikings players made the PFF Team of the Week?
The first Vikings player on the team is Nick Muse. The tight end caught all three of his targets in this game and tied for the most receiving yards by a Minnesota player with 29. He also looked solid as a blocker.
Next, offensive lineman Austin Schlottman made the list. Playing as the team’s starting center for the contest, Schlottmann’s positive performance is encouraging since Minnesota is currently struggling to find high-quality play at center.
Finally, it should come as no surprise that T.Y. McGill was the final Vikings player to make the team. The defensive lineman was disruptive for the second preseason week in a row, notching five total tackles and 1.5 sacks on the day.
Each of these players is currently fighting for a spot on the 53-man roster of the Minnesota Vikings and their performance should help their case for avoiding being released when cuts need to be made by Aug. 30.
