When they take on the Miami Dolphins in Week 6, the Minnesota Vikings could be going up against their former starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.

When looking at the remaining opponents the Minnesota Vikings will have to face this season, a Week 6 matchup on the road against the Miami Dolphins seems like it could be a tough one for the purple and gold. Now with less than two weeks until the Vikings travel south, there’s a legitimate possibility that they might have to take on Teddy Bridgewater in their contest with the Dolphins.

Bridgewater has already been named Miami’s starting quarterback for their upcoming game against the New York Jets as Tua Tagovailoa continues to recover from a concussion that he sustained in Week 4.

There’s some speculation that Tagovailoa isn’t going to be ready to return to the field anytime soon, so that likely means that Bridgewater will be starting under center for the Dolphins when they take on Minnesota in Week 4.

Have the Minnesota Vikings ever faced Miami Dolphins QB Teddy Bridgewater?

If Bridgewater is starting for Miami in Week 6, it will be the second time in his NFL career that he will start against the Vikings, the team that selected him in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

That lone start against Minnesota came during the 2020 season when Bridgewater was a member of the Carolina Panthers. The Vikings were able to get off the field with a one-point victory over the Panthers in that contest and the former Minnesota quarterback ended his day with 267 passing yards, one touchdown, and one interception.

It’s not hard to argue that Bridgewater is in a much better situation as a starter with the Dolphins this year than he was during his last two seasons when he was with the Panthers and Denver Broncos. Miami has a bunch of playmakers on their roster, especially in their wide receiver room, and they could still make life very difficult for the Vikings in Week 6, regardless of whoever is throwing them the ball.

Some might believe that Minnesota’s road trip to Miami will be a little easier if Bridgewater is starting. But the Vikings just let a New Orleans Saints offense led by Andy Dalton rack up 338 total yards against them in Week 4, so let’s not assume anything about what the Dolphins won’t be able to do in Week 6 against an underwhelming Minnesota defense.
