It’s starting to sink in for the Minnesota Vikings. With a 6-1 record, the Vikings are legitimate contenders in the NFC and will be looking for their sixth straight win when they travel to face the Washington Commanders this weekend.
Never mind that Minnesota is not a finished product. Never mind that the NFC has been so weak that it’s propelled the Vikings to the top of the conference. It doesn’t matter how Minnesota got here. All that matters now is that they keep winning.
The next stop on this tour is a difficult one. The Commanders have won three straight games and have gained a second wind under quarterback Taylor Heinicke. The former Vikings camp arm has won seven of his past 10 starts and will look to continue his most recent run of success when Minnesota visits FedEx field.
The Vikings also have their own intriguing storylines. The trade for T.J. Hockenson signals a willingness to go for the conference title, while homecomings for Kirk Cousins and Kevin O’Connell add another layer to this NFC matchup.
