Vikings rooting guide for Week 13 of the 2022 NFL season
By Adam Patrick
Which teams should the Minnesota Vikings be rooting for during Week 13 of the 2022 season to help their seeding in the NFC playoff bracket?
Despite there still being more than a month left in the 2022 regular season, the Minnesota Vikings have a chance to clinch the NFC North crown in Week 13.
This weekend, if the Vikings defeat the New York Jets and the Detroit Lions tie or lose to the Jacksonville Jaguars, then Minnesota will clinch their first division title since 2017.
If this scenario winds up being the outcome on Sunday, the Vikings would be the first team in the NFL to clinch their division with five weeks left in the season since the 2009 Indianapolis Colts.
Minnesota Vikings rooting guide for Week 13 of the 2022 season
Team No. 1
- Jacksonville Jaguars (4-7)
- Facing the Detroit Lions (4-7) on the road in Week 13
In Week 13, the Jaguars will be on the road to face the Lions inside Ford Field. As mentioned previously, if Jacksonville wins or they tie with Detroit on Sunday, and Minnesota defeats New York, then the Vikings will clinch the NFC North title.
The 4-7 Jaguars have won two of their last three games, but they have yet to get a win on the road this season. According to the FanDuel Sportsbook, the Jaguars are currently 1.5-point underdogs to a 4-7 Lions team that has won three of their last four games.
Team No. 2
- Tennessee Titans (7-4)
- Facing the Philadelphia Eagles (10-1) on the road in Week 13
If Minnesota is going to have any shot at ending the season as the No. 1 seed in the NFC, then they are going to need the Philadelphia Eagles to start losing some games.
On Sunday, the 10-1 Eagles are hosting the Titans inside Lincoln Financial Field. If the Vikings beat the Jets and Tennessee defeats Philadelphia this weekend, then Minnesota and the Eagles will be tied for the best record in the NFC.
However, the Eagles will still hold the tiebreaker over the Vikings since Philadelphia defeated Minnesota back in Week 2. Still, a win by the Titans on Sunday would be very helpful for the Vikings‘ effort to capture the top seed in the NFC.
Team No. 3
- Miami Dolphins (8-3)
- Facing the San Francisco 49ers (7-4) on the road in Week 13
If Minnesota isn’t going to end up as the No. 1 seed in the NFC this season, the next best outcome has them entering the playoffs as the No. 2 seed in the conference.
Currently, the San Francisco 49ers are the No. 3 seed in the NFC with a 7-4 record, and they trail the Vikings by two games. Minnesota still has some wiggle room to suffer a loss during the next few weeks, but the 49ers adding another loss to their record on Sunday will certainly help the Vikings’ chances to get the No. 2 seed in the NFC this season, regardless of whether Minnesota gets a win over New York this weekend or not.
