Los Angeles Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey is apparently on the trade block and the Minnesota Vikings were recently suggested as a possible landing spot for him.
After more than three seasons with the Los Angeles Rams, recent reports have indicated All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey could end up elsewhere before the start of the 2023 campaign. To the surprise of some, the Minnesota Vikings are one of the teams that have been suggested as a possible landing spot for Ramsey.
Pro Football Network’s Justin Hier recently shared his list of teams from around the NFL that could make a trade with the Rams for Ramsey this offseason, and the Vikings were among the teams he selected.
Los Angeles Rams CB Jalen Ramsey would fill a need for the Minnesota Vikings defense in 2023
Hier attempted to explain his reasoning for picking Minnesota as a potential trade destination for the All-Pro cornerback.
"“It seems like the Minnesota Vikings are always in need of cornerback help. But if we’re being realistic, that’s most teams in the NFL, as CB is one of the most difficult positions at which to find year-over-year consistently high-end play. Ramsey has provided that in spades for the Jaguars and Rams, and maybe now it’s time he does so in purple and gold.[The] Vikings could use some help on the boundary, and Ramsey could provide it. Cap space might be an issue, but Minnesota has several contracts with pricey vets that can be cut, restructured, or extended. There’s enough room to make it work.”"
Along with the Vikings, the Detroit Lions, Las Vegas Raiders, and Miami Dolphins were suggested by Hier as possible landing spots for Ramsey.
In the report from NFL Media’s Tom Peliserro on Friday that revealed the Rams’ are “very likely” to trade their top cornerback this year, it was also mentioned that a deal could potentially be made “in the coming weeks.”
So if Minnesota is going to acquire Ramsey in a trade this year, it’s something that will likely happen sooner than later.
