DB Chauncey Gardner-Johnson

Chauncey Garnder-Johnson was already briefly mentioned in this article, but now it’s time to focus on him. He was floating around in free agency longer than he should’ve been and the Lions finally swooped in and signed him to a one-year deal.

Gardner-Johnson is a passionate and fiery player who will get in the face of receivers and challenge them. While that passion will definitely add a level of intensity to the Lions’ secondary, Gardner-Johnson’s biggest attribute will be his playmaking ability.

He’s coming off a season where he had six interceptions. He’s a proven ball hawk, and if he’s the type of player who can get the ball back to this explosive Lions offense, Detroit could find themselves with a lot of comfortable victories in 2023.

The Lions are a team that was close a season ago and with additions like Gardner-Johnson, they appear ready to take the next step. The ball-hawking safety is the type of player who can swing the outcome of a game and could be a real headache for the Vikings next season. Luckily, he’s only inked to a one-year deal.
