If the Minnesota Vikings are unable to land a quarterback on Day 1 of the 2023 NFL Draft, could they turn their attention to UCLA’s Dorian Thompson-Robinson?

With Kirk Cousins only having one year left on his current contract, the Minnesota Vikings have become a team that some believe will attempt to select a quarterback in the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft.

During the last few weeks, the Vikings have been connected to a number of 2023 quarterback prospects, including Florida’s Anthony Richardson, Kentucky’s Will Levis, and Tennessee’s Hendon Hooker.

All three of these prospects are expected to be off the board by the end of Day 2 of the draft. So if Minnesota fails to land Richardson, Levis, or Hooker this year, they could look to take a chance in the fourth or fifth round of the draft on a passing prospect who requires a little more development.

Former UCLA QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson mentioned as a possibility for the Minnesota Vikings

It has been mentioned by a number of draft analysts this offseason that the Vikings have been “doing their homework” on the group of 2023 quarterback prospects.

One young player Minnesota has apparently “done good work on” this offseason is former UCLA quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robsion according to KSTP’s Darren Wolfson on Monday. In addition, Pro Football Network’s Tony Pauline also named the Vikings as a possible landing spot for Thompson-Robinson on Tuesday.

So who is this former UCLA quarterback? Well, Thompson-Robinson is an intriguing 23-year-old passing prospect who showcased his dual-threat abilities throughout his college career.

In 13 games at UCLA last season, he completed 69.6 percent of his passes for 3,169 yards, 27 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions, in addition to rushing for 645 yards (5.5 average) and 12 touchdowns.

The 6-foot-2, 203-pound prospect possesses elite speed, and he has enough traits as a passer that can be molded into something useful in the right NFL offense.

Most draft analysts view Thompson-Robinson as someone who will still be available when Day 3 of the 2023 draft begins. So if the Vikings are still interested in drafting a quarterback after the first three rounds this year, the former UCLA passer might be their guy.
