The Minnesota Vikings could be in a position to add a player in a major trade during the 2025 NFL Draft. Could one of these three trades make sense? The Vikes could be on the cusp of having themselves some long-term success and stability. They said goodbye to Sam Darnold this offseason and are handing the keys to JJ McCarthy, their de-facto rookie QB.

Well, while the roster is quite good, there are still avenues for some upgrades to be made, and the NFL Draft is a place where major player trades can and have gone down. Could we see Vikings GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah dabble in some player trades during the draft?

Let's dive into three potential moves he could make.

3 blockbuster trades the Vikings could make in the 2025 NFL Draft

Vikings could trade for Broncos LG Ben Powers

Now yes, you might be asking yourself why the Denver Broncos would trade one of their OL starters, but there could be a path forward here. The Broncos signed Powers before the 2023 NFL Season, and he has started all 34 regular season games for them. Powers is a good, solid player, but the contract he is under perhaps pays him a bit more than he is worth.

And in today's NFL, rarely if ever do you see a team load up with five high-dollar contracts along the offensive line. The Minnesota Vikings are approaching that territory, but Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has been aggressive along the OL this season and could fire up a trade with the Broncos for Powers.

It could be ultimate protection for JJ McCarthy when you consider the other good players the Vikes have along the OL, and the Broncos might feel confident that they could find a guard replacement at some point in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Vikings could trade for Jets CB Sauce Gardner

The Minnesota Vikings could make a huge splash in the secondary, and they do need a legitimate, shut-down CB1 on this defense. Well, we all know that Sauce Gardner is quite talented and is a top-3 CB in the NFL. Gardner was drafted by former Jets GM Joe Douglas, who is obviously not with the team anymore.

New GM Darren Mougey might feel more comfortable stocking up on NFL Draft picks to rebuild this Jets roster the way he sees fit rather than paying Gardner an amount at or above $30 million per year. New York might not be in a position to be throwing a ton of money at a CB, as they have QB questions and some questions remaining along the offensive line that need answered.

A major trade like this would shakeup the league for years to come, but the Jets are much farther away from contention than the Vikings are.

Vikings could trade for Bills QB Mitchell Trubisky

The Minnesota Vikings do not have a viable QB2 right now, but could they trade for Mitchell Trubisky? Mike White is on the Buffalo Bills roster and is a capable backup, so that could make Trubisky a bit vulnerable to not be on the roster come Week 1. The QB started his career with the Chicago Bears, so he is no stranger to the NFC North and the rigors that come with playing in the division.

He is a capable starter and has been through the mud before at the position in the NFL. And I would have to guess that Trubisky is aware of the QB he is in the NFL at this point - his long-term starting days are over, but he is someone who could be a huge resource for JJ McCarthy and can come in and start some games when needed.
