The Minnesota Vikings have been aggressive in free agency this offseason. They have spent a lot of money to bring in talented players on offense and defense, hoping to be contenders in the NFC North in 2025.

Minnesota has also been aggressive in clearing out problem areas on the roster, whether it is ineffective play or a high cost with little return. Players like Ed Ingram and Garrett Bradbury exited the team this offseason despite being former starters.

However, not every player on the chopping block is a former starter or a big salary cap hit. Some individuals are players there just might not be room for on the roster anymore. Let's take a look at four players who might not make it to the regular season.

These Minnesota Vikings players are on the hot seat

Ty Chandler, running back

Bringing back Aaron Jones was huge for the Minnesota Vikings. Last season, he had over 1,500 yards from scrimmage and seven touchdowns. He will be a huge asset for the offense and new starting quarterback J.J. McCarthy.

The trade with the 49ers to acquire Jordan Mason gives the Vikings a high-potential backup who could be a great complement to Jones. Meanwhile, Ty Chandler has struggled to be consistently effective and may need a strong training camp and preseason to stay on the roster.

Jalen Nailor, wide receiver

Justin Jefferson is the best wide receiver in the league. He will be the top target for the Vikings. Jordan Addison has played well as a No. 2 and stepped up well when Jefferson was unable to suit up for action.

Newly signed receiver Rondale Moore acts as the direct competition for Jalen Nailor. Not to mention that Minnesota also signed Tim Jones this offseason. Nailor has flashed in the past, but can he prove he can be more consistent?

NaJee Thompson, cornerback

The Minnesota Vikings had an overhaul at cornerback. They were able to re-sign Byron Murphy Jr. and should have Mekhi Blackmon returning from injury, but their recent signings of Isaiah Rodgers and Jeff Okudah could make it difficult for other cornerbacks to stay on the roster.

NaJee Thompson is primarily a special teams player. In 2023, he played 195 special teams snaps but only one defensive snap. And he spent 2024 on injured reserve. He will need to step up big to secure a role in 2025.

Nahshon Wright, cornerback

Like NaJee Thompson, Nahshon Wright is entering a tough situation. Last season, he didn't register a single defensive snap and is primarily a special teams player.

There is a lot of competition for a few spots at cornerback, Players like Wright will need to show that they have more to offer the Minnesota Vikings if they hope to latch on to the team for the upcoming 2025 NFL season.
