The Minnesota Vikings find themselves with their financial backs against the wall in the 2026 NFL offseason, so much so that some of the organization's cost-cutting measures could lead to a trade of standout pass rusher Jonathan Greenard.
Minnesota is reportedly asking for a Day 2 pick to part ways with one of its starting edge rushers. While 2025 was not as dominant a season, his 2024 campaign is proof that if deployed correctly, he can be a game-changing edge rusher that any contending team or mid-range squad looking to jump up a tier would be lucky to have.
These five teams, all of whom need pass rush help and should be willing to part with some capital in the 2026 NFL Draft to make it happen, need to get on the phone with Minnesota and try to work something out.
5 teams who could trade for Minnesota Vikings pass rusher Jonathan Greenard
5. Carolina Panthers
The Panthers have two developing young pass rushers in Nic Scourton and Princely Umanmielen, but they need that one star-adjacent player who can take them over the top. Carolina's front office may be extra aggressive due to how little separation exists in the NFC South.
4. New England Patriots
The Patriots have the cap space to go big-game hunting as they try to get Drake Maye back to the Super Bowl. If they miss out on a player like Maxx Crosby, New England could go for a cheaper alternative in Greenard. His style of play will fit in perfectly in a Mike Vrabel defense.
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Bucs have needed pass rush help for what feels like forever, and if they are unable to bring in one of the better young edge-setters in the 2026 NFL Draft, Greenard could make a ton of sense. Todd Bowles needs to win to keep his job, and a move like this would fit in well with that directive to improve quickly on defense.
2. Buffalo Bills
The Bills are going through yet another offseason of shuffling all of the pieces around Josh Allen in the hope of finally finding some combination that works. With the pass rush from last year underwhelming a tad, Greenard could come right in and make an impact if the Vikings' asking price is met.
1. Washington Commanders
The Commanders hired former Vikings defensive backs coach Daronte Jones as their new defensive coordinator, and it might not be the worst idea in the world to pay a hefty price for someone who he knows can be a game-wrecker in the right alignment.
