During his decorated career with the Minnesota Vikings, Anthony Barr developed a bit of a rivalry with Aaron Rodgers after he drilled the former Green Bay Packers quarterback into the turf with a legal tackle in the middle of a 2017 matchup.

Rodgers ended up suffering a broken collarbone from the hit, which then made Barr public enemy No. 1 for just about every Packers fan for several years after.

Knowing all of this, the irony meter skyrocketed on Monday when Barr left a comment on his X account that suggested Minnesota should consider signing Rodgers to be the team's quarterback next season.

Anthony Barr suggests the Minnesota Vikings should let J.J. McCarthy learn behind Aaron Rodgers

Barr's suggestion is a thought that has become more prevalent throughout the Vikings fan base in the last few weeks as J.J. McCarthy has experienced some significant struggles in his first season as the team's starting quarterback.

Rodgers to Minnesota was in the rumor mill earlier this year, and with his contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers set to expire at the end of the current season, everyone should expect those rumors about him signing with the Vikings to fire right back up.

In 11 starts with the Steelers this year, Rodgers has put up some solid numbers with 2,086 passing yards, 19 touchdowns, and just seven interceptions. But Pittsburgh now has a 6-6 record after starting the season 4-1, and the possibility of them missing the playoffs is very real.

Rodgers is 42 years old, and he's been pretty banged up this season, so him even wanting to play for another year in the NFL isn't exactly a guarantee.

But if Minnesota head coach Kevin O'Connell calls Rodgers in 2026 to offer him an opportunity to play more than half of his games indoors, return to a division where he built his legacy, and throw to Justin Jefferson every week, it's likely going to be pretty difficult for the current Steelers quarterback to say no.

If Rodgers does eventually end up signing with the Vikings next year, Barr should definitely make sure someone saves him a seat at the introductory press conference so the two can, you know, catch up, for old time's sake.
