Prior to becoming the new Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator in 2023, Brian Flores was the head coach of the Miami Dolphins for three seasons between 2019 and 2021. Flores's tenure with the Dolphins ended in ugly fashion, and it even resulted in him suing the NFL, Miami, and two other teams for racial discrimination.

Given his lawsuit against the league, some have wondered if he will ever be given another opportunity to be a head coach in the NFL again in the future. Well, if that chance is ever offered, Flores recently shared how he would respond during an interview with ESPN's Adam Schefter.

"Look, there's only 32 of these jobs. So, I would certainly want another opportunity to be a head coach in this league again.

...With that being said, Minnesota's been a great spot for me [and] my family. We're really enjoying it. I've talked at length about the players and the relationships we've built with them. It's a great group. I love coming to work every day.

So, it'd have to be the right opportunity, but yes, I would love to be a head coach again."

Minnesota Vikings fans can breathe a little easier after recent remarks from Brian Flores

While some Vikings fans might be freaking out that Flores is still interested in becoming an NFL head coach again, most should be able to calm down at least a little bit based on the fact that he made sure to mention that he would have to be presented with "the right opportunity" in order to leave Minnesota.

With the success of the Vikings defense this year, it is entirely possible that Flores could be offered a chance to become a head coach again as soon as the upcoming offseason. But according to him, if the job doesn't feel like a good fit for him and his family, then he's not going to leave his role as Minnesota's defensive coordinator.

Who knows if his mentality could change in a few months, but Flores has certainly enjoyed his time in Minnesota enough that he views his current job as a better one than some of the head coaching opportunities that might open up around the NFL in 2025.

His feelings are just the latest in a long list of reasons why the Vikings got it right when they hired Kevin O'Connell to be the team's head coach in 2022. The culture that O'Connell has created in Minnesota in just a few years has made it so that guys like Flores don't want to leave the team unless they are truly presented with an opportunity they cannot refuse.
