Like the Minnesota Vikings, the Green Bay Packers and quarterback Jordan Love had their 2024 campaign come to a close in the first round of the playoffs earlier this month.

Green Bay finished the regular season with an 11-6 record, and while it was an improvement compared to the 9-8 record they ended 2023 with, a first-round playoff exit was well short of the expectations that many had for the team in its second year with Love as its full-time starting signal-caller.

On Thursday, it was revealed that Love will have a new quarterbacks coach in 2025 to help him get closer to reaching his full potential, and this person is someone who Vikings fans are very familiar with.

Green Bay Packers new QB coach is former Minnesota Vikings backup Sean Mannion

After spending the 2024 season as an offensive assistant for Green Bay, former Minnesota passer Sean Mannion has reportedly been appointed the team's new quarterbacks coach, according to ESPN's Rob Demovsky on Thursday.

Mannion had a three-year stint with the Vikings from 2019 and 2021 as the primary backup behind former Minnesota quarterback Kirk Cousins, and then he returned to the team in the middle of the 2023 season for a brief period.

During his time with the Vikings, he appeared in a total of four games, including two starts. Mannion only threw one touchdown pass during his entire NFL career, and that happened while he was a member of the Vikings in Week 17 of the 2021 season.

Coincidentally, his lone touchdown toss was against the Packers inside Lambeau Field, a venue that he currently calls home as a member of Green Bay's coaching staff.

Mannion's value was always believed to be higher in the meeting room and on the sideline during his playing career, so it's not shocking that he has quickly transitioned into a coach after retiring from the NFL last year. Now, the Packers are hoping that value in the meeting room and on the sideline will be something that can help Love take his performance to a new level.
