For the third week in a row, veteran linebacker Blake Cashman is among the group of players to be included on the first Minnesota Vikings injury report before the team's upcoming game against the Indianapolis Colts.
Cashman hasn't played since the Vikings' Week 5 win over the New York Jets because of a turf toe injury. The injury has been bad enough to keep him sidelined during Minnesota's last two games, and it seems like he might be out of action once again for Sunday's matchup against the Colts.
Blake Cashman on first Minnesota Vikings injury report for Week 9 vs. Indianapolis Colts
Cashman was the only non-participant in the Vikings' practice on Wednesday, and if he sits out practice again on Thursday, it seems likely that he won't be suiting up this weekend to take on Indianapolis.
As for the rest of Minnesota's first Week 9 injury report, offensive tackle David Quessenberry being listed as limited seems like the only other thing to really keep an eye on in addition to Cashman's status. Quessenberry is among those who could start at left tackle for the Vikings this week as the team continues to figure out who will replace Christian Darrisaw in the starting lineup.
When it comes to the Colts, their first injury report of the week revealed that several of their notable players are currently pretty banged up.
Five Indianapolis starters sat out Wednesday's practice, including both of the team's starting offensive tackles and their starting center Ryan Kelly.
A banged-up Colts offensive line seems like a good recipe for Minnesota's defense to get back on track after an underwhelming performance in the team's loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 8. Whether or not the Vikings' defense will be joined by Cashman on Sunday is just something we'll have to wait and see.
