Less than a week ago, former Minnesota Vikings cornerback Cameron Dantzler was given the chance to return to the NFL for the first time since 2023 by the Miami Dolphins.

With only one game left on the 2025 preseason schedule to impress the Dolphins at the time of his arrival, Dantzler was facing an. uphill battle to make their final 53-man roster this year. It turns out that the hill was too high for the former Vikings third-round draft pick to climb.

On Monday, Dantzler was part of a group of players who were shown the door by Miami as the team reportedly released the veteran corner, according to the Miami Herald's Barry Jackson.

Cameron Dantzler one of multiple former Minnesota Vikings to recently be waived or released

As teams around the NFL continue to trim their rosters down to 53 players before Tuesday's deadline, several former Minnesota players, including Dantzler, have already been waived or released.

On Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles decided to move on from former Vikings safety and first-round pick Lewis Cine. It's possible that Cine could eventually sign with the Eagles' practice squad before the start of the upcoming regular season, but it's still crazy to witness how quickly his career has fallen since entering the NFL in 2022.

Former Vikings running back Cam Akers was attempting to land a role with the New Orleans Saints this season, but that journey came to an end on Monday when the team released him. The good news for Minnesota is that, currently, they wouldn't have to make another trade to re-add Akers to their roster if they wanted to, unlike the past two years.

In addition to Akers, former Vikings tight end Nick Muse was waived by Philadelphia on Monday, according to NFL Media's Tom Pelissero. Like Cine, Muse was also part of Minnesota's infamous 2022 draft class.

Some other former Vikings players who have been waived or released in the last few days include Ameer Abdullah, Tyrese Robinson, Jamin Davis, and Kenny Willekes.

Expect plenty more former Minnesota players to be cut within the next 24 hours as teams around the league have to cut down their rosters to 53 players by 3 p.m. CST on Tuesday.
