Former Minnesota Vikings cornerback Kris Boyd is currently in critical condition after he was reportedly shot in New York early Sunday, according to the New York Post.

According to the report, Boyd was shot in the abdomen outside of a restaurant in Midtown Manhattan following a dispute. He was then transported to Bellevue Hospital, where he is now "clinging to life," per the report from the New York Post.

The former Vikings corner is currently a member of the New York Jets. He hasn't appeared in a game with the Jets yet this season after he was placed on injured reserve in August due to a shoulder injury he suffered during a training camp practice.

After spending the 2023 and 2024 seasons with the Houston Texans, Boyd signed with New York back in March to continue his journey in the NFL.

That journey in the league began several years ago after the Vikings selected him in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Boyd wound up appearing in a total of 61 games (including the playoffs) over the course of four seasons with Minnesota before he became a free agent in 2023.

Following his tenure with the Vikings, Boyd spent the first part of the 2023 season with the Arizona Cardinals before eventually ending up on the Texans' roster for the remainder of the campaign.

During his NFL career, he has made several starts at corner (all with Minnesota), but he's been able to stick around in the league due to his skills on special teams.

Boyd finished with five tackles while on special teams with Houston last season, and he's generated a total of 31 special teams tackles during his time in the league, according to data from PFF.
