Up and down would be a fitting way to describe how things have gone for Jordan Addison in his first three years with the Minnesota Vikings. Addison has made a number of impressive plays on the field (22 receiving touchdowns in three seasons), but those performances have been mostly overshadowed by multiple poor decisions he's made off the field.
Despite his off-the-field struggles, there are still plenty of teams around the NFL that would likely be interested in making a trade for the young wide receiver if that is something the Vikings are willing to consider.
That's a scenario that Bleacher Report's Alex Ballentine recently explored when he came up with the trade proposal that has Minnesota sending Addison to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for a pair of draft picks.
Trade Proposal
Vikings Receive: 2026 second-round pick (60th overall) and a 2027 conditional fifth-round pick
Bills Receive: Jordan Addison - WR
Ballentine shared why he thinks this deal is one that could work for both teams.
"Jordan Addison has dealt with multiple off‑field incidents during his time with the Vikings, and the team will have to decide on his fifth‑year option this offseason.
If they aren't comfortable extending him for the long term, he could become a valuable trade asset. The Bills could fit his $4.4 million cap hit relatively easy and they'd have time to figure out how to afford his extension.
The Bills don't have a ton of cap space. They also have other pressing needs if they want to finally get over the playoff hump. This could be a relatively cost-efficient way to fill a huge need for the long haul."
Grade the Trade Proposal: Minnesota Vikings deal Jordan Addison to the Buffalo Bills
Since Addison is still only 24-years-old and he was a first-round draft pick back in 2023, some Vikings fans would probably only be comfortable with the team moving on from him if they were able to get at least a first-round selection in return.
However, a 2026 second-round pick and a conditional 2027 fifth-round pick (that likely turns into a 2027 fourth-round selection if certain benchmarks are met) is really good value for a wide receiver that has never finished with 1,000 receiving yards in a season yet and can't be counted on to behave when he's not on the field.
This return package would be similar to, if not better than, what other teams got in some of the most recent trades that involved a notable wide receiver.
Last year, the Pittsburgh Steelers got a 2026 third-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round selection from the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for pass-catcher George Pickens. In 2024, the Denver Broncos acquired a pair of 2024 draft picks in the fifth and sixth rounds in a trade that had them send receiver Jerry Jeudy to the Cleveland Browns.
So even though Minnesota isn't getting a first-round draft selection from the Bills in Ballentine's trade proposal, the Vikings are still getting really good value for Addison. And for that reason, this trade proposal is deserving of a high grade.
