It didn't take very long, but the Green Bay Packers have already given Minnesota Vikings fans plenty to laugh about since beginning their 2025 training camp this week.
The laugh-inducing moments started on Wednesday after Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst revealed that wide receiver Bo Melton would be spending most of the team's training camp this summer lining up as a cornerback.
Melton as a cornerback? That should go great for Green Bay next season. It's not like the Packers are in a division with receivers like Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, D.J. Moore, and Rome Odunze.
Oh, wait.
Green Bay Packers give Minnesota Vikings fans more to laugh about with return of old friend
Attempting to convert a receiver into a cornerback isn't all the Packers have been up to this week.
Green Bay's practice also revealed the return of former Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett to the team's coaching staff.
Hackett spent his last few seasons in the NFL struggling as the New York Jets offensive coordinator and Denver Broncos head coach, but now he's back with Green Bay, and apparently, he's serving as some sort of defensive consultant this time around, according to ESPN's Rob Demovsky.
Hackett was successful when he was the Packers' offensive coordinator from 2019 to 2021, but it's safe to say that Aaron Rodgers being Green Bay's starting quarterback at the same time had a much larger impact on the success of the team's offense.
Last season, the Packers finished with an 11-6 record, but two of their losses came at the hands of the Vikings. In fact, Minnesota has come away with a win in four of the previous six meetings against Green Bay.
Based on some of the head-scratching decisions the Packers have made this offseason, including the two mentioned above, the Vikings should continue to have success against their biggest division rival in 2025.
