Coming off consecutive losses and having tasted defeat in three of their previous four games, the Minnesota Vikings headed to the Motor City for a Sunday showdown with the rival Detroit Lions as 8.5-point underdogs, which made perfect sense, seeing as how Dan Campbell & Co. had won five of their previous six and were well rested coming off their bye week.
There was also the matter of not knowing in the slightest what to expect from Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who'd missed five games with a high-ankle sprain and had basically only played one good quarter of football in the two games in which he'd appeared this season, that, of course, being the final frame of Minnesota's wild Week 1 win over the Chicago Bears.
Add all that up, and it's easy to see why not many people were giving the Vikes a chance to win this game, a group that included the 10 NFL Network analysts who make their predictions for every game on a weekly basis, all of whom picked the Lions on Sunday.
J.J. McCarthy's fiancée clapped back at NFL Network after Minnesota Vikings win over the Detroit Lions
As the world watched, though, anyone who picked Detroit made the wrong call, as McCarthy helped the Vikings pull off a 27-24 upset. And his fiancée, Katya Kuropas, had no problem calling out the analysts mentioned above.
On her Instagram Story, Kuropas, who gave birth to the couple's first child in mid-September, posted a picture of the unanimous pregame predictions from NFL Network, and right below that was an image of McCarthy smiling on the sidelines. For added measure, she also included a smirking face emoji. So, that's fun.
Did McCarthy play the perfect game? Absolutely not, as he completed just 56 percent of his passes and threw his fourth interception of the season.

But he also threw a pair of touchdown passes, both coming in the first quarter to help the Vikings to a 14-7 lead, added a nine-yard rushing score in the third quarter to up his team's advantage to 24-14, and secured the much-needed win by connecting with Jalen Nailor for a 16-yard completion on 3rd-and-5 with under two minutes to play, thus allowing Minnesota to run out the clock in victory formation.
Up next for the Vikings is a Week 10 matchup at U.S. Bank Stadium with Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens, who, despite being on the road, have already been listed as 3.5-point favorites.
We'll certainly be keeping an eye on who the folks at NFL Network pick for this one, and it seems safe to say that J.J. McCarthy's fiancée will as well.
