Last month, Minnesota Vikings fans were given an unexpected dose of concern after it was revealed that rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy underwent a second operation on his surgically repaired knee.

McCarthy was given a routine injection in his knee to help reduce some swelling, and everyone has done their best to ensure the Vikings fan base that this was nothing out of the ordinary for the type of injury that the young quarterback is currently recovering from. But bad memories of former Minnesota signal-callers dealing with significant injuries in the recent past still has some fans concerned about McCarthy's future.

Those concerns might be a little lower now after the Vikings rookie recently appeared on "The L.A.B. with Jake Butt" podcast and provided an update on his injured knee following his operation last month.

"The knee is doing fantastic. It's on the road that they told me it was going to be on, which is up and down, upside down, sideways, backwards, all the way around.

So, PRP , we got that done. Going in there and having to get cut open wasn't great, but it's alright because it's all a part of the process and I'm in a good spot right now."

Injury update for Minnesota Vikings rookie QB J.J. McCarthy reveals he's still on right track with recovery

While there will always be some members of Minnesota's fan base who are going to worry about McCarthy's future with the team, the update that the rookie quarterback recently shared should have at least slightly lowered the stress levels of some Vikings fans.

Some relief about McCarthy's future should have also been provided to the fan base after Minnesota recently signed former New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones.

The Vikings' plan for 2025 is still to let Sam Darnold sign elsewhere in free agency and prepare McCarthy to be the team's new starting signal-caller for next season. By adding Jones, signs are still pointing to Minnesota moving on from Darnold next year, as the team is now getting a head start on finding a solid veteran No. 2 quarterback option behind McCarthy.

Everything is still on the right path for the Vikings rookie to begin the 2025 campaign as the team's starting passer and there's no current reason to think otherwise.

At least that is what everyone has been led to believe.
