From the moment Justin Jefferson first stepped foot on the field for the Minnesota Vikings in 2020, the LSU alum has been an absolute menace to defensive backs.

As a rookie, the Louisiana native broke a pair of franchise records previously held by the legendary Randy Moss, setting new rookie marks for receptions (88) and receiving yards (1,400).

Those 1,400 yards were also good for the second-most by a rookie in NFL history. Now, if one wanted to get overly technical, Jefferson actually took the top spot, as the record belonged to Bill Groman, who went for 1,463 yards in 1960 for the AFL's Houston Oilers. But with a merger comes merged records, so we'll let that one go.

Besides, Jefferson was surpassed in 2021 by former LSU teammate Ja'Marr Chase (1,455), who was then surpassed by Puka Nacua (1,486) in 2023. So, he would've lost that one already anyway.

Since then, however, Jefferson has set the records for the most receiving yards by a player through his first two seasons (3,016), three seasons (4,825), four seasons (5,899), and five seasons (7,432).

And barring some sort of serious injury, the four-time All-Pro should easily set the six-season mark in 2025. And just like many of the franchise or league records he's set thus far, it'll come at the expense of Randy Moss.

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson needs just 944 yards in 2025 to break Randy Moss' record for the most receiving yards by a player in his first six NFL seasons

Here's how ridiculous Jefferson's numbers have been.

As mentioned, he owns the record for the most receiving yards by a player through his first five seasons with 7,432, which is 648 more than second-place Torry Holt.

But even if Jefferson failed to take a single snap in 2025, which is just a nightmare to even think about for Vikings fans, he would still rank seventh all-time through six seasons. Here's how the list currently shakes out.

Player

Player

Rec. Yards Thru 6 Seasons

1

Randy Moss

8,375

2

Torry Holt

8,156

3

Jerry Rice

7,866

4

Calvin Johnson

7,836

5

Julio Jones

7,610

6

DeAndre Hopkins

7,437

7

Justin Jefferson

7,432

As you can see, Jefferson needs just 944 yards to surpass Moss, which shouldn't be much of a problem at all, seeing as how he's averaged just over 1,486 yards per season.

Even when he missed seven games during the 2023 campaign, he still went for 1,074 yards on 68 receptions. So, again, barring injury, this is essentially a lock.

Assuming Jefferson maintains his career average of 96.5 yards per game, which is the highest in NFL history, by the way, the 26-year-old would break Moss' record in Week 11 when the Vikings host the Chicago Bears.

It's also worth noting that Jefferson has the chance to surpass Moss in the Vikings' record books in 2025 in both receptions and receiving yards.
