It was reported on Saturday that the Minnesota Vikings have agreed to terms with Seattle Seahawks assistant general manager Nolan Teasley to be the team's next general manager. That move surprised a lot of fans, but it could also have a big impact on the current individuals under contract.

Although Kevin O'Connell has done some wonderful things since arriving as the head coach of the Vikings, there have also been disappointments. And some of those disappointments have led to the coach seemingly being on the hot seat.

Previously, Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and Rob Brezezinski were in the front office, and no changes were made when it came to the head coach. However, that job security has the potential to no longer be the case with an outside hire as the general manager of the franchise.

The Minnesota Vikings' new general manager might be an outside hire, but that shouldn't raise any questions about head coach Kevin O'Connell's future.

Now with Teasley as the new Vikings general manager, some might think there is no connection between him and head coach Kevin O'Connell. That isn't the case, as the two football minds go way back.

Star Tribune's Ben Goessling recently shared on X that there is a strong connection between Teasley and O'Connell.

"Nolan Teasley and Kevin O’Connell have known each other for years, having built a relationship through O’Connell’s connection with John Schneider. That relationship made Teasley and attractive as they looked for a partner for the head coach."

Having a head coach and general manager who are on the same page is important in running a functional NFL franchise. As previously seen in Minnesota, when there is poor communication between the two, dysfunction runs rampant.

Saying that Teasley's connection to O'Connell made him an "attractive" candidate to be the Vikings' general manager is interesting. That means that the franchise ownership seems to strongly believe in what the head coach can do for the team and wants to give him as much support as possible.

Teasley has a background in talent evaluation from his years of scouting. That history should help the purple and gold identify players who could fit into what O'Connell wants for his roster and allow him to assemble a strong roster to work with.

It will be interesting to see how Nolan Teasley and Kevin O'Connell work together with the Minnesota Vikings. Hopefully, the two can remain on the same page and help the franchise be more competitive in the future.
