While Kirk Cousins hasn't had much success when it comes to winning throughout the course of his career, reaching the playoffs only three times when he's been the guy under center and getting a victory in just one of his four postseason starts, that coming with the Minnesota Vikings during the 2019 season, there's certainly no getting around the fact that the four-time Pro Bowler has put up some monster numbers.

In the 174 regular-season games in which he's appeared over his 14 seasons with the Washington Commanders, the Vikings, and the Atlanta Falcons, the Michigan State alum has completed 66.7 percent of his passes, good for the seventh-highest percentage in league history among those who've made at least 1,500 attempts, and has thrown for 44,700 yards, good for the 19th-most all-time.

Now with the Las Vegas Raiders, Cousins also sits in the No. 15 spot on the NFL's all-time passing touchdowns list. And assuming he starts the upcoming 2026 campaign as the team's QB1 ahead of No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza, which he is expected to do, Captain Kirk could very well become just the 15th player to join the 300-TD club in the Raiders' Week 1 matchup with the Miami Dolphins, as he's currently sitting on 298.

Former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins is primed to become the 15th player in NFL history to throw 300 TD passes

A fourth-round pick of the team now known as the Commanders back in 2012, Cousins tossed 99 touchdowns during his six-year stint with Washington, topping out at 29 during the 2015 season.

Ahead of the 2018 season, he signed with the Vikings and received the first fully guaranteed contract in NFL history, getting a three-year deal worth $84 million, which, at the time, was the highest-paying pact in league history. Cousins ultimately also spent six seasons in Minnesota and added 171 touchdowns to his resume, hitting his high mark in 2020 with 35.

And in his two years with the Falcons, who signed him to a four-year, $80 million deal just about six weeks before surprisingly selecting Michael Penix Jr. with the No. 8 overall pick in the opening round of the 2024 draft, Cousins tossed 28 touchdowns in 24 appearances.

As mentioned, with his 298 TD passes, he sits in the 15th position on the all-time list, which currently shakes out as follows:

  1. Tom Brady: 649
  2. Drew Brees: 571
  3. Peyton Manning: 539
  4. Aaron Rodgers: 527
  5. Brett Favre: 508
  6. Philip Rivers: 425
  7. Matthew Stafford: 423
  8. Dan Marino: 420
  9. Ben Roethlisberger: 418
  10. Matt Ryan: 381
  11. Eli Manning: 366
  12. Russell Wilson: 353
  13. Fran Tarkenton: 342
  14. John Elway: 300
  15. Kirk Cousins: 298

Obviously, he needs two more to join the 300 club, but that would also tie him with the great John Elway, who tossed exactly 300 during his legendary 16-year run with the Denver Broncos.

While Cousins tossed a total of five touchdowns in his first three career outings against the Dolphins, four of which came in the two times he faced them while the Vikings (two in each game), he failed to do so in his most recent matchup with Miami last October while with the Falcons in a 34-10 loss.

Cousins will take his shot at history on Sunday, September 13, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
