Two weeks into free agency this offseason, and former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins is still in need of a new team for the 2026 campaign.

Cousins was released by the Atlanta Falcons earlier this month, and the 37-year-old signal-caller has yet to find a team that is willing to bring him aboard.

There have been some rumblings that the Las Vegas Raiders or Pittsburgh Steelers could potentially be landing spots for Cousins this year. But recently, The Athletic's Matt Schneidman suggested that the Green Bay Packers should consider signing the former Minnesota quarterback to be Jordan Love's backup for next season.

"The idea of adding a proven veteran like Cousins, who can at least help the Packers tread water if Love goes down, might entice head coach Matt LaFleur.

Cousins might (understandably) want to sign with a team whose starter is less entrenched than Love, but perhaps the idea of reuniting with his position coach from his first two years in the NFL (LaFleur) entices him, too."

Could former Minnesota Vikings QB Kirk Cousins end up with the Green Bay Packers?

Currently, Desmond Ridder and Kyle McCord are the only other quarterbacks on Green Bay's roster besides Love. Combined, Ridder and McCord have started a total of 18 games, so it's not like the Packers have a ton of experience behind Love

Green Bay had the luxury of having Malik Willis as its backup for the last two seasons, but he left in free agency this year to sign a lucrative deal with the Miami Dolphins. So, now the Packers are left with Ridder and McCord fighting for the No. 2 spot.

Cousins to Green Bay would be an interesting decision to say the last.

Currently, the Packers still have a decent amount of salary cap space ($22.1 million), so they would likely be able to meet whatever payment request is made by Cousins.

Plus, the Falcons are still paying the veteran quarterback $10 million in 2026, so his salary requirement might be the lowest since he first joined the NFL.

How would Vikings fans feel if Cousins actually did end up signing with Green Bay? Betrayed? Not bothered at all?

Hopefully, we don't have to find out.
