Unlike the last few years, free agency for the Minnesota Vikings this offseason probably isn't going to feature the team going out and spending a ton of money on some of the top guys who are available.

This doesn't mean the Vikings won't be making any exciting moves in free agency. But, considering Minnesota currently doesn't even have a general manager after firing Kwesi Adofo-Mensah in January, the roster decisions are likely going to be a bit safer this year.

Does the trio of Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell, defensive coordinator Brian Flores, and EVP Rob Brzezinski have what it takes to build a roster that can get the team back to the playoffs next season?

We're about to find out.

Major Vikings Signings

Kyler Murray - QB

Contract: 1 Year - $1.3 million

Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell has made it pretty clear since the conclusion of the 2025 season that he wanted to add more competition for J.J. McCarthy in the quarterback room, and Minnesota did just that with the signing of Kyler Murray.

Murray has agreed to a one-year contract with the Vikings, and since he's still getting paid by the Arizona Cardinals, Minnesota was able to get him to agree to a deal worth only $1.3 million.

Eric Wilson - ILB

Contract: 3 Years - $22.5 Million ($7.5 Million AAV)

Eric Wilson just put together the most impressive single season of his NFL career, and while he might have been able to get a bigger payday elsewhere, he has reportedly decided to remain with the Vikings for another three years.

No one would've blamed Wilson if he went after a bigger bag this offseason. But he clearly realized the better choice was to return to Minnesota, since he already knows the team's current defensive scheme is a great fit for him.

Jalen Redmond - DL

Contract: 1 Year - $1.075 Million (Exclusive Rights Tender)

Minnesota's best defensive lineman in 2025, Jalen Redmond, will be back for at least one more season after the team recently placed a one-year tender on him. For now, Redmond is only under contract for 2026, but there's a good chance that the Vikings will attempt to sign him to a multi-year extension at some point this offseason.

Jonathan Allen - DL (Post-June 1 release and signed with Cincinnati Bengals)

After signing Jonathan Allen to a three-year deal worth $51 million with Minnesota last offseason, the team released him on Wednesday with a post-June 1st designation. But it didn't take him long to find a new team, as he reportedly agreed to a two-year contract worth $28 million with the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday.

Of the 17 Vikings defenders who were on the field for at least 249 defensive snaps last season, Allen finished with the second-worst PFF defensive grade, as he only managed to accumulate one sack and 14 pressures in 17 games.

More on how Jonathan Allen's new contract with the Bengals could help Minnesota

C.J. Ham - FB (Retired)

It's going to be a little odd not seeing C.J. Ham out on the practice field in his No. 30 jersey at training camp this summer. Minnesota will certainly miss his leadership inside the locker room and his skills as a fullback and top special teamer next season.

Javon Hargrave - DL (Release and signed with Green Bay Packers)

Unlike Allen, Javon Hargrave was able to at least come close to meeting the expectations that were given to him after signing a two-year contract worth $30 million last offseason, as he generated 31 pressures and four sacks in 16 games for the Vikings in 2025, according to data from PFF.

However, with Minnesota in desperate need of clearing salary cap space this offseason, the team released him on Wednesday to free up almost $11 million. Luckily for the veteran defender, he was able to land a new multi-year contract with the Green Bay Packers shortly after getting cut by the Vikings.

Jalen Nailor - WR (Signed with Las Vegas Raiders)

After spending the last three seasons behind Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison on Minnesota's depth chart, Jalen Nailor will be looking to make a name for himself in 2026.

Nailor has reportedly agreed to a three-year contract with the Las Vegas Raiders worth $35 million. The Vikings would've loved to have him back, but they were never going to give him a deal worth $11.7 million per season like the Raiders just did.

Harrison Smith - S (Post-June 1 release)

Retirement has been a possibility for longtime Minnesota safety Harrison Smith for the last several years, but this time, it seems more believable than ever.

The Vikings released Smith on Wednesday with a post-June 1st designation, and he is still unsure about his NFL future. If he returns, Minnesota would reportedly "welcome him back," according to The Athletic's Alec Lewis.
