With training camp and the preseason complete, the Minnesota Vikings now have to decide which players from their locker room are worthy of a spot on their final roster for the 2026 regular season.
Before 5 p.m. CST on Sunday, the Vikings must reduce their current 90-man roster all the way down to just 53 players. That means more than 35 members of Minnesota's preseason roster will be shown the door before Sunday's deadline.
The Vikings could make roster cuts at any time within the next 24 to 36 hours, and we'll have them all listed here whenever they happen. Notable Vikings cuts
Zavier Scott - RB
After doing enough last summer to make Minnesota's final 53 in 2025, Zavier Scott finds himself on the outside looking in this time. The Vikings drafted Demond Claiborne with a sixth-round pick earlier this year, and they clearly view his ceiling as higher than Scott's.
Johnny Hekker - P
Signed in the offseason after the departure of Ryan Wright in free agency, most assumed Johnny Hekker was a lock to open up the 2026 regular season as Minnesota's punter and holder. Instead, the Vikings have decided to give their punting and holding duties to rookie Brett Thorson, who won the Ray Guy Award last season at Georgia, given to the best punter in college football.
Potential cut day targets from around the NFL
Nick Mullens - QB (Released by Jaguars)
If the Vikings choose to move on from J.J. McCarthy before the start of the regular season, Nick Mullens would likely be among the top choices to add to Minnesota's quarterback room with Carson Wentz and Kyler Murray. Mullens was with the Vikings from 2022 to 2024, so he's very familiar with Kevin O'Connell's offense.
Greg Dortch - WR (Released by Lions)
Before landing with the Detroit Lions earlier this year, Dortch spent the previous five seasons as a teammate of Kyler Murray's on the Arizona Cardinals. In addition, Dortch is a very solid punt and kick returner, if Minnesota is interested in adding someone with more experience in those roles than Myles Price.
