Just when it seemed like everyone was done with trying to get people to believe the Minnesota Vikings are a legitimate possible landing spot for former New York Jets and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers this offseason, a new report has thrown the purple and gold right back in the rumor mill.

On Wednesday, The Athletic's Dianna Russini and Mike Silver shared the latest on the possibility of Rodgers ending up with the Vikings this year.

"Vikings decision-makers are still evaluating their options at quarterback, including the possibility of signing Aaron Rodgers. The four-time MVP is intrigued by the idea of playing in Minnesota. For now, it’s a waiting game."

New Aaron Rodgers report reeks of the QB wanting to land with the Minnesota Vikings, not the other way around

It's very easy to figure out where Russini and Silver are getting their information from since their report specifically mentions how the veteran QB "is intrigued by the idea of playing in Minnesota."

Notice how there's no mention of the Vikings being intrigued by the possibility of signing Rodgers, which likely means the team isn't interested in adding someone to their locker room who has spent more time in the tabloids than in the playoffs during the last three seasons.

For the last few weeks, multiple members of the national media have been obsessed with this pipe dream that they have of Rodgers following the same career path of Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre, who also went from the Packers to the Jets before finishing his NFL career in Minnesota.

But there have been absolutely zero signs or reports from any members of the Vikings or anyone close to any members of the franchise that the team has even an ounce of interest in signing Rodgers this offseason.

Everything Minnesota has done in the last few weeks has all pointed to the team making the switch to J.J. McCarthy as their starting quarterback for the upcoming season.

But, obviously, that's not as fun of a story to talk about, which is why Rodgers is still being connected to the Vikings. Unfortunately, these rumors likely won't go away until he actually signs with another team or retires to start his own podcast network.

All Minnesota fans can currently do is hope that Rodgers makes a decision about his future sooner rather than later so that these pointless rumors can finally disappear.
