The Minnesota Vikings continue to be active during the "legal tampering" period of free agency by looking for talented players to fill needs as contributors on the roster for the upcoming 2024 NFL season.

One of the biggest areas of need for the Vikings this season is the defensive secondary. Minnesota has multiple cornerbacks expected to hit free agency and possibly sign with another team. That means the team needs to reload at the position.

Minnesota Vikings agree to terms with former Eagles defensive back

The Minnesota Vikings have reportedly agreed to terms with former Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Isaiah Rodgers on a two-year deal. The news came from NFL insider Adam Schefter, who detailed the terms of the agreement on X.

Rodgers was a sixth-round pick of the Indianapolis Colts in the 2020 NFL Draft. He played his first three season there before missing the 2023 season for violating the NFL's gambling policy. Then, he spent 2024 with the Eagles where he started three games while playing in 15 contests and defending four passes.

On defense, Rodgers played 328 snaps while adding 150 special teams' snaps. The five-foot-ten, 170-pound defender is only 27 years old and fills a need for depth at cornerback for Minnesota this season.

Part of the Eagles' 2024 Super Bowl winning team, Isaiah Rodgers had some key takeaways in the playoffs, including a forced fumble and a fumble recovery against the Rams in the NFC Divisional Round game.

Isaiah Rodgers will join an aggressive Brian Flores defense in Minnesota where he could be in line for a big role. the Vikings aren't likely to be done adding defensive backs this offseason, but getting an experienced defender for depth is a great start.

Considering the healthy amount of salary cap space the Minnesota Vikings have this offseason, filling needs to prepare for a bigger signing or narrow down options in the 2025 NFL Draft to make sure they optimize their return on value.

SKOR North's Phil Mackey shared on X that Rodgers ranked sixth among all qualifying cornerbacks in Pro Football Focus man coverage grades. This is a great sign that Minnesota may have got a great value out of the contract.

Congratulations to cornerback Isaiah Rodgers on agreeing to terms with the Minnesota Vikings and joining the team for the upcoming 2025 NFL season. Hopefully he can be a great contributor for the team.
