Following the decision by the New York Giants on Monday to fire Brian Daboll as the team's head coach, some have quickly suggested that current Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores be the one to fill the Giants' newest vacancy.
Flores would be a great fit for the Giants. His defenses have been awesome everywhere he's coached in the NFL, he has previous head-coaching experience from when he held the role with the Miami Dolphins from 2019 to 2021, and he was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York.
There's just one teeny, tiny problem that will likely prevent this from actually happening.
Currently, the Giants are one of three NFL teams that Flores is suing for racial discrimination following their alleged actions during the 2022 hiring process. Unless something changes drastically within the near future, New York doesn't seem like a legitimate destination for Flores in 2026.

While the Giants probably won't be a place where Flores ends up next year if he chooses to pursue a head coaching job, there should still be plenty of options for him to pick from.
Looking at the current landscape of the league, the Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, and Arizona Cardinals are just a few teams that could potentially be in need of a new head coach this offseason, in addition to the Tennessee Titans and New York, who have already fired their respective head coaches this season.
Flores is more than deserving of another opportunity to be an NFL head coach, and he will likely have multiple interviews for some of the openings this upcoming offseason.
Selfishly, Vikings fans would love for him to remain the team's defensive coordinator for as long as possible. But Minnesota fans also know that, eventually, that day will come when Flores announces his departure from the franchise to take on his next adventure.
