Last offseason, the Minnesota Vikings made the decision to move on from offensive guard Ed Ingram, who the team selected in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. After three seasons with the organization, the Vikings traded Ingram to the Houston Texans in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round draft pick.

Oddly enough, that sixth-round pick wound up right back in the hands of Minnesota during Saturday's final afternoon of the 2026 NFL Draft.

Initially, the Vikings used the selection they got from Houston in the Ingram trade in a deal they made with the San Francisco 49ers to acquire running back Jordan Mason last offseason.

Then last October, the 49ers used that same pick in a trade that landed them defensive lineman Keion White from the New England Patriots.

On Saturday, the Patriots entered the final day of this year's NFL Draft with the sixth-round pick that was originally from the Ingram trade. That was at least until New England got a phone call from Minnesota.

In the middle of the sixth round, the Vikings and Patriots struck a deal that resulted in Minnesota re-acquiring, yes, re-acquiring, the selection from the Ingram trade that they had already sent away in the deal with San Francisco for Mason.

After reuniting with the pick, the Vikings used it to select former Wake Forest running back Demond Claiborne on Saturday.

So, essentially, Minnesota traded Ingram to the Texans in 2025, and turned the draft pick they received in that deal to acquire Jordan Mason from the 49ers and select Claiborne on Day 3 of this year's NFL Draft.

Technically, half of the running backs on the Vikings' current roster were acquired as a result of the Ingram trade.
