Earlier this week, the New York Jets decided to fire general manager Joe Douglas. So, for the first time since 2019, the Jets will need to hire a new general manager, and apparently, a current Minnesota Vikings front office executive could be in the running for the job.

When recently listing some of the potential candidates to become New York's next general manager, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler mentioned Vikings senior vice president of player personnel Ryan Grigson as a possibility.

Grigson has been with Minnesota since 2022, and he's bounced around multiple NFL front offices during the last two decades, including a five-year stint as the Indianapolis Colts general manager from 2012 to 2016.

Ryan Grigson better off remaining with Minnesota Vikings than getting involved with the New York Jets

If anyone ever needed proof of why the Jets have been a disaster of a franchise for the last few decades, this season has provided a ton of evidence.

New York owner Woody Johnson has allegedly been behind a bunch of the team's surprising decisions this year, including the mid-season firings of Douglas and former Jets head coach Robert Saleh.

New York thought they were heading into a year in which veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers could lead them to a Super Bowl win. But with a 3-8 record after Week 11, the Jets probably aren't even going to make the playoffs this season.

Is a dysfunctional franchise like New York really one that Grigson would like to join? Opportunities to become a general manager in the NFL don't happen often, so perhaps the Minnesota executive could still jump at the opportunity. But in this specific case, Grigson is probably better off remaining with the Vikings.

Instead of joining the Jets and not really knowing how much control he will have to make decisions with everything that's come out about Johnson recently, he can remain with Minnesota and continue to help a franchise that actually has a legitimate shot to win a championship in the next handful of seasons.
