The Minnesota Vikings' schedule has been released for a few months, but one of the few questions remaining was when Adrian Peterson would be inducted into the Ring of Honor.
Minnesota announced that the greatest running back in franchise history would join the exclusive group back in May, and they finally put a date to the festivities on Tuesday when they announced Peterson will be honored at halftime of the Vikings game against the Buffalo Bills on November 9 (Week 9).
With the Bills coming for a "Monday Night Football" matchup, it adds another layer to what is currently one of the most marquee games on the schedule. But it is also the first honor that Peterson could receive over the next few months.

The choice for the Vikings to honor Peterson against the Bills is a solid one. With Josh Allen and a legitimate AFC Super Bowl contender coming to town, fans will already be fired up for a primetime matchup. Honoring Peterson also adds to the atmosphere as he takes his place among Vikings legends.
Peterson is the Vikings’ all-time leader in rushing yards (11,747), rushing touchdowns (97) and yards per game (95.5) after spending 10 seasons in Minnesota.
The seventh-overall pick of the 2007 draft, Peterson also became the last non-quarterback to win the NFL’s Most Valuable Player Award, running for 2,097 yards and 12 touchdowns after coming off a multi-ligament knee injury in 2012.
After being released by the Vikings following the 2016 season, Peterson spent time with the New Orleans Saints, Arizona Cardinals, Washington Commanders, Detroit Lions, Tennessee Titans, and Seattle Seahawks.
While he has not officially retired, he logged his last carry with Seattle in 2021 and currently ranks fifth all-time with 14,918 yards.
Of the players ahead of him on that list, Emmitt Smith, Walter Payton, and Barry Sanders are currently in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Peterson also has a strong chance to join that group in Canton, as he is eligible for enshrinement for the first time this winter.
A legendary running back in Vikings history and NFL history, Peterson is deserving of the accolade and will have a primetime stage for his latest honor this November.
