It feels like at least once a season, the Minnesota Vikings are scheduled to play a game during the regular season outside of the United States. Those games are usually met with groans from fans who aren't used to the different start time or international flavor of those games.

However, Vikings fans shouldn't get too frustrated about the purple and gold playing outside of the country since they seem to fare quite well in games scheduled at a neutral location in the International Series.

Interestingly, each team has been assigned geographic regions where they could be featured. For Minnesota, that is Canada and the United Kingdom. However, they can still play at other locations if they are designated as the road team.

Minnesota Vikings are among NFL's best when it comes to playing international games

The 2026 NFL schedule has the Minnesota Vikings playing in the International Series once again. This time, it will be Week 11, when they will serve as the road team in a game against the San Francisco 49ers in Mexico City.

This will be the Vikings' seventh game played internationally. Through the first six of those games, the purple and gold have a 5-1 record according to the official X account of the NFL, giving them the second-most international games of any team. Only the Jacksonville Jaguars have played more.

However, a deeper look at the graphic shows something very interesting. Even though the Jaguars have played more than double the international games of any team in the league, they have lost half of those contests.

On the other hand, the Vikings are the team with the best international record of any team that has played three or more games. Although there are teams that are undefeated in those games, the Eagles and Panthers have only played two games, and the Cowboys have only played one.

Minnesota's success and experience in international games should have the team and its fans interested in that Week 11 game this season.

Vikings running back Aaron Jones has already said he is looking forward to this game the most of any on the schedule. For good reason, he and his team should feel good about hitting the road to get away from the cold mid-November weather in the great north.

The only loss Minnesota has suffered in the International Series came last season when they lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers by 3 points in Ireland. Even in that game, Carson Wentz nearly led the purple and gold to a comeback win, but their two turnovers proved to be too much to overcome.
