After he sustained a knee injury during last week's win over the Green Bay Packers, edge rusher Patrick Jones II is among the players who are on the Minnesota Vikings inactives list for the team's Week 18 matchup on Sunday against the Detroit Lions
Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell sounded optimistic earlier this week about the possibility of Jones actually playing against the Lions on Sunday. However, the veteran linebacker's knee injury prevented him from practicing all week, and on Friday, Minnesota ruled him out for Sunday's contest in Detroit.
Luckily, Jones is really the only notable member of the Vikings who won't be suiting up for the team this weekend. Guys like running back Aaron Jones, C.J. Ham, and Harrison Smith are currently dealing with injuries, but all of them will be on the field for Minnesota on Sunday to take on the Lions.
Minnesota Vikings inactives for Week 18 against the Detroit Lions
While most members of the Vikings are healthy for this weekend's game, Detroit is heading into the matchup with a roster that has been decimated by injuries in the last few weeks, especially on the defensive side of the ball.
Currently, the Lions have 16 players on the team's injured reserve list, including pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson, defensive lineman Alim McNeill, cornerback Carlton Davis, and linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez
In addition to Detroit's extensive injured reserve list, the team will also be without running back David Montgomery on Sunday. Montgomery suffered a knee injury in the Lions' Week 15 loss to the Buffalo Bills and he's been sidelined ever since.
