Given the struggles of the Minnesota Vikings this season, the status of general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah with the team has been a bit of a hot topic of discussion throughout the fan base during the last several weeks.
However, Adofo-Mensah's job with the Vikings might actually be safer than what some have been assuming.
During a recent episode of SKOR North's "Purple Daily," KSTP's Darren Wolfson shared what he's heard about the potential of Minnesota moving on from its current general manager after the 2025 season.
"I haven't heard any buzz, especially after the nice, lucrative extension that Kwesi signed earlier this year. I just haven't heard that they're going to cut the cord on Kwesi in January. Is it on my radar? Sure.
...I just haven't heard any rumblings about the Vikings even considering changing their general manager.”
Job of Minnesota Vikings GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah not currently in jeopardy
At the very least, it seems like Vikings ownership is going to give Adofo-Mensah one more year with the team to see if he can get things headed back in the right direction.
With Minnesota having two seasons with at least 13 wins during his tenure, it seems fair to give him more time to attempt to fix the team's problems, whether fans agree with that decision or not.
Adofo-Mensah has made plenty of solid roster moves during his tenure with the Vikings that he doesn't get enough credit for.
Everyone can agree that his first draft with Minnesota in 2022 was a disaster, but his early-round selections have been solid ever since. Jordan Addison has been a hit, the jury is still out on J.J. McCarthy, Dallas Turner appears to be turning a corner, and Donovan Jackson has performed well in his time on the field with the Vikings this season.
Adofo-Mensah has also made some notable moves in free agency since he was hired by Minnesota in 2022, including the signings of Jonathan Greenard, Andrew Van Ginkel, Sam Darnold, Aaron Jones, Jalen Redmond, Harrison Phillips, Za'Darius Smith, Josh Oliver, and Byron Murphy.
Adofo-Mensah can only do so much. It's his job to supply the Vikings with the players, and it's up to Minnesota's coaching staff to get the most out of the players. It's not his fault that guys like Ed Ingram, Nahshon Wright, and others have gone on to succeed elsewhere this year after struggling during their tenures with the Vikings.
It's possible that things could change during the next few weeks if Minnesota continues to trend in the wrong direction, but heading into Week 14, it seems like Adofo-Mensah is still going to be around when it comes time to build the team's roster for the 2026 campaign.
