As the Minnesota Vikings continue to add players in free agency this offseason, some have still been wondering if Los Angeles Rams All-Pro wide receiver Cooper Kupp will end up in the Twin Cities at some point in the near future.

ESPN's Adam Schefter shared on Monday that the Rams will reportedly release Kupp when the new league year begins on Wednesday unless they find a trade partner before then. If he does become a free agent, it sounds like the Vikings are a landing spot that makes a bunch of sense, at least according to the Minnesota Star Tribune's Ben Goessling.

Goessling appeared on KFXN-FM's "The Paul Allen Show" on Tuesday, and he shared his thoughts on the possibility of Kupp signing with Minnesota if he does indeed become a free agent this week.

"I think it's very possible. There are big Cooper Kupp fans on [Minnesota's] coaching staff. Kevin O'Connell [is one]. Wes Phillips is a big Cooper Kupp fan in terms of you hear him talk all the time, still, about Cooper Kupp as a run blocker, Cooper Kupp as a guy who would bring ideas to the offense.

...It would make a lot of sense for Cooper Kupp to be [in Minnesota].

How much would it cost for the Minnesota Vikings to sign Los Angeles Rams WR Cooper Kupp

During his appearance on Tuesday, Goessling also mentioned that the price would have to be right in order for Kupp to end up with the Vikings this offseason. If he becomes a free agent on Wednesday, he's not expected to cost a ton on the open market, but he's probably not going to be cheap, either.

So, what could it potentially cost Minnesota to sign Kupp this year if he hits free agency? Well, Spotrac currently has his projected market value at $11 million per season.

Minnesota would likely want to sign Kupp for a little less than that, especially if they're going to bring him in to be the team's No. 3 receiver. The Vikings gave cornerback Stephon Gilmore a one-year deal worth $7 million last offseason, so something similar is probably what they would be willing to offer Kupp.

Thankfully, the new league year is set to begin at 3 p.m. CST on Wednesday, so Minnesota fans won't have to wait much longer to find out if Kupp will be suiting up in purple and gold next season.
